UPDATE: I got the pallette ordered, got final pricing and an estimated delivery date, and it's cheap! $10 a bag! It's on it's way!

I might need a bag or two. You do realize that a pallette of SD is 70 bags don't you. I think you can get a half-pallette.

Here is a thread that may help:http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... did=235445
Wanted: to set up a tank again.

I might be interested in 5+ depending how things go for me in the next 2 months. I'll either be setting up the 125 i have or selling it so i can't promiss anything. I would need most of it for my fuge since its going to be an aggressive tank.

I can also use 10 or 20 bags. Wouldn't mind to have it around.

OWWW! I just got off the phone with a few folks...

Firstly, I called Old Castle (used to be Southdown), and found that they only ship in truckloads... I think a truckload is supposed to be 10 pallettes. BUT, the sales rep. I talked to was super-nice, and looked up a local reseller that they bag for, who sold in pallette sizes.

So, I called this number........ which ended up being "Pure Caribbean Aragonite" http://www.purearagonite.com/. Their product (which is bagged by Old Castle) ended up bring 1,103.50 for a full palette (70 bags) or 685.25 for a 1/2 pallette. This comes out to $16 and $20 per bag respectively. Pretty steep when Southdown comes down to $5 per bag if you're in the right area!

I'm still thinking about whether I'm gonna order a pallette, or just make a long road trip to Jacksonville, FL to get a ton of it for $50.

I've hand-tested all local stores (HD/Lowes/Kmart/Walmart) and they all don't fizz with vinegar... it's gonna have to be freighted in for sure. I still have one lead to get a pallette for cheap, I'll keep you guys posted.

Memphis huh?

That's where I call home. I have a couple days vacation to take, and have been talking to a friend back there about arranging a visit.

If you can make sure the sand you want is there, maybe I can make a venture.

Alrighty, sand will be here in less than two weeks, it's ON THE WAY. And, I got the pricing, and it's gonna be low enough I can sell sand for $10 a bag!. Put sand purchasing in your budget now!
