Well, it's that time and it looks like it's off to a good start already, with our second tropical storm of the season and this one w/ predictions of possibly heading our way.
What are some things to do to prepare for the season?
What did you wish you had last year when Ivan hit, that you did not have?
The list so far: (Liquor seems to be a priority item with this group)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
plywood fasteners & plywood to cover ALL windows
a generator
More vodka.
BEER and WINE!
Make a list of needs (food, etc)
Fill up gas cans and vehicles
Clean up yard of debris that can fly thru the air
Make plans of where to go in the event a hurricane IS coming our way
Get cash out of the bank to have on hand
Make sure you have propane for your grill or wood for a BBQ to cook
Batteries (AA's, D's, AAA's, 9V, etc)
clean out your gutters if you have them
Make provisions for your pets in the event you decide to leave!
Decide on where in your house you'll hunker down if you stay
Charge your cell phones!
Have a cooler with ice
Have some canned goods WITH a can opener
supply of Crown Royal
chain-saw files (A chainsaw is good to, if you need one)

two things I wish I had were plywood fasteners & plywood to cover ALL windows, ready to go, and a generator.
I'm buying a generator and the plylock thingies to hold the boards next week, not sure when I'm gonna get around to the plywood
Food, light source, and water handy are always good... most reef geeks have a large supply of fresh water, so that's never a problem I camp, so I have propane lighting and tanks always ready... better stock up on some non-erishable food tho.

Florida Sales Tax Holiday – June 1-12
Save an Extra 7.5% at Your Local Store
If you're a Florida resident, pay no tax on selected hurricane supplies from 6/1/05 - 6/12/05. And, when you shop at your local Home Depot store, we'll match the savings by giving you an extra 7.5% off ALL tax-free items. Offer available at Florida The Home Depot stores only from 6/1/05 - 6/12/05. Discount taken at register. See store for complete details.
And I think Home Depot has a 6 months no payments , no interest program. You'll have a hard time beating that deal I would think.

Ok, the store in Pensacola, is pretty much out, they have 5 electric start models @ 6500watts for $1049, and 12 coleman 3250watts for $646.57. The lady I talked to said she thought it was the same with the other stores.
The store in Pace said they are expected to get more in stock tommorrow, I have no way to know if that is true or not. She also said the discount is available to Mobile (people in hurricane areas).
Thats all I know
Pensacola store: 850-477-7005
Pace Store: 850-994-2260

Not a big deal, I am sure if Amy really wanted to buy one she would had suggested it. If she mentions wanting to get one I will probably jump on the idea. I probably need to start keeping water jugs now to freeze just in case though. I had two freezers full of ice last time, that is what saved my ass.
